| 内容記述 | This study aimed to investigate the community needs of families with food-allergic individuals and the perceptions of non-allergic families toward food allergies, serving as foundational data for developing regional educational programs. Surveys were conducted in 2019 and 2020, targeting 13 participants with a family member who has a food allergy and 11 participants who did not have a member with a food allergy. Results showed that allergic families had a high perception of food allergies among their child's friends' families and schools, but low among general residents and restaurants. Key information desired by allergic families included allergen labeling, symptoms, and emergency response methods for friends' families; emergency response for schools; allergen labeling and emergency response for residents; and allergen labeling for restaurants. Conversely, the survey of non-allergic families found that many respondents "knew the symptoms but did not know the emergency procedures" for an allergic reaction. Although a considerable percentage reported checking allergen labeling, the most desired information for this group was emergency response methods when allergic symptoms occur. In conclusion, non-allergic families demonstrated some level of food allergy awareness, such as checking labels, but few knew emergency response procedures, aligning with the needs of allergic families. While regional educational programs will focus on emergency responses, including symptoms and management, future steps should assess the awareness levels in the general community and restaurants to confirm the gap between current reality and the needs of allergic families, thereby refining the program content. |
