Early intervention in non-cognitive abilities has been reported to predict future social success. It seems easy to forget that the development and acquisition of non-cognitive abilities is important not only in early childhood, but also in childhood and adolescence. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the development and acquisition of non-cognitive abilities in higher education institutions and to consider what approaches are possible, especially for students with developmental disabilities. Here, I focused on metacognition, self-efficacy, and intrinsic motivation, which are keywords in the development and acquisition of non-cognitive abilities.
