Teplov and Nebylitsyn have revised Pavlov's theory of nervous system properties to include both primary and secondary properties. The two primary nervous system properties include strength and mobility. Secondary properties of the nervous system include the balance of the excitatory and inhibitory processes.\nStrelau largely owes the Moscow psychologist B.M. Teplov and V.D.Nebylitsyn his academic background. Strelau tried to integrate the theories of these psychologist with Western research under the title of“the Regulative Theory of Temperament\". The main idea of the theory is that temperament,being a product of biological evolution,plays an important role in regulating the interactions between humans and their environment. He has perticularly stressed two basic features comprising the energetic characteristic of behaviour,namely,reactivity and activity.\nThe Strelau Temperament Inventory includes three scales: Strength of Excitation,Strength of Inhibition,and Mobi1ity. There are 44 questions for each of the Excitation and Inhibition scales and 46 for Mobility,In all,there are 134 questions and these were translated into Japanese from the English version.
