内容記述 | In 2021, the Act for Eliminating Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities was amended, and the prohibition of the non-provision of reasonable accommodation was changed from obligation to make the best efforts to a legal obligation at private universities. Looking back on about 10 years of support for students with disabilities at our university, the number of students with disabilities has increased yearly. They account for approximately 2% of the total number of students and are characterized by a wide variety of disability types. This article aims to examine the provision of reasonable accommodation in higher education institutions from the perspective of quality assurance in higher education. One of the focuses of this article is the use of online classes as a reasonable accommodation: the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), which became a global pandemic from spring 2020, has had a significant impact on the lives of university students, and as a result, online classes have been launched as the way to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Their implementation requires consideration of how reasonable accommodation should be given to students with disabilities. The other focus, which relates to the diversification of our students, is on reasonable accommodation for students with intellectual disabilities. This article confirms that constructive dialogue is important in the provision of reasonable accommodation to ensure the quality of higher education for students with disabilities. | |||||||||||
