This research paper is continuing research which advances the previous studies On the Possibility of Christian Education for the Nurturing of Uncognative Abilities (Maeda, Narasaki, Kato, 2017–2018). The research is based on comment cards, which were completed over 16 weeks during the spring semester (April – July), and were completed by students at Hiroshima Jogakuin University’s ‘Christian Hour’, held once a week. The results have been compiled using text analyzing software, the purpose being to compliment and advance previous research findings. In addition, a further survey was conducted during the Introduction to Christianity I class. This also took place throughout each week during semester one. The result of the completed questionnaires suggest that students, rather than acquire knowledge about Christianity, would rather acquire the necessary skills to enable self-reflection and individual thought and to utilize these in everyday life. Thoughts were recorded in response to speeches and testimony from various speakers during the sessions. The student reaction was positive and led to a belief that they could improve their ‘behavior in a public place’ and ‘respect for others’. The studies’ findings suggest that because of the time dedicated to specific Christian based education, students can question and find themselves. Such an approach helps them to navigate sensitive personal, and social situations. |
