| 内容記述 | This study discusses the development and nature of Japanese children’s imaginative power as seen in play songs (asobi uta). First, in order to identify the characteristics of children’s imaginative power, I discuss four types of play song by comparing with Vygotsky’s ‘four basic ways of linking imagination with reality’. I then compare characters featured in the historical children’s songs of Hiroshima Prefecture with those of play songs sung in Japan today and examine the changes and nature of the imagined content. The results revealed certain characteristics of children’s play songs: the song’s characters or roles are changed freely within the realm of imagination; they return from the imaginative world to the real world at the end of the song, deciding victory or defeat for the character; and they undergo a thrilling climax at the end of the song. | |||||||||||
